B’nai Brith took out a dramatic full page ad on the back of the National
post today (Feb. 15/09), entitled: STOP THE HATE-FESTS ON CANADIAN
UNIVERSITY CAMPUSES

It reads:

“Presidents of Canadian universities must demonstrate leadership. They
must come forward to prevent Israeli Apartheid Week, an event that has
become notorious for promoting hatred against the Jewish State and its
student supporters here at home. They must stand up to the daily ongoing
anti-Jewish agitation that has taken root on campuses across the country.

Boards of governors, professors, alumni and benefactors must also act now.

A poisoned environment is being fostered where Jewish students are
increasingly intimidated and targeted for hate. In recent weeks, there have
been documented assaults on Jewish students, threats, on-going harassment,
and mob scenes. These incidents are being ignored by university
administrations and campus security. Police forces, when called to the
scene, all too often turn a blind eye.

The pretense that Canada is well is over. When good people do not act,
radicals fill the void.

Being Jewish critics of Israel, we have a response to the domineering full-page proclamation of the B’nai Brith organization.
Peace will be possible when Israel recognizes that the Palestinians have the same reciprocal rights as any other people, such as the Jewish People. Israel does not act on behalf of the Jewish community when it substitutes war for diplomacy and so we say, “Not In Our Name”. Israel is not denounced for being predominantly Jewish but for its military aggression.
The B’nai Brith public statement, National Post Feb. 15/09, is written as if it were an order; “They must come forward to prevent Israeli Apartheid Week.” What could possibly warrant such a drastic statement that requires the suspension of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and its provision for the freedom of expression?
There would have to be another Holocaust requiring the intervention of all concerned peoples – or is this a facade of inflated language? That assault of words criticizing some demonstrators’ slogans is tantamount to denying the massacre inflicted upon the Palestinian refugees that harbour themselves in the Gaza strip – by the sanctified State of Israel. The current closure of Gaza limits provisions to 125 trucks a day; a minimum of 400 trucks are necessary. Even such limited aid has only been achieved due to the pressure exerted by Israel’s own allies including the European Union, the United Nations Organization and the U.S.A.
Claiming to defend the Jewish People, the B’nai Brith organization ignores the Christian fundamentalist supporters of Israel who cheer on the internecine bloodshed between Jewish and Palestinian people. The demonstrations objected to by the B’nai Brith seek security for both peoples and yet are denounced for being motivated by hatred for all that is Jewish. The great majority of Jewish people do not live in Israel and many oppose what Israel has done to the Palestinians. One such Jewish dissident is the subject of the B’nai Brith call for censorship, Ronnie Kasrils, the Jewish Lithuanian descendent who became South Africa’s Minister of Intelligence Services (2004-2008). He is scheduled to speak for the ‘Israeli Apartheid Week’ in Montréal, March 4th at McGill University.
Many Jewish and Palestinian demonstrators now say in harmony; “Jews and Arabs are united – Israel’s wrongs must be righted.”

Jewish voices of concern in Canada 2009

2013/12/01

Press Release
Communiqué de media
2009 / 12 / 11
Jewish voices of concern in Canada
Our various organizations of the Jewish political culture together consider it obligatory to respond to the Conservative Party propaganda that is using anti-Semitism as a pretext to attack critics of the State of Israel who recognize that war crimes have been committed by that State’s military force. These war crimes have continued despite various precedents and condemnations. We refuse the continuing siege on the people of Gaza, the Palestinians, for the greater part refugees. We recognize that the Goldstone Report has validity and wisdom in its condemnation of Israel’s war crimes just as Michael Ignatieff had denounced Israel’s war crimes in the invasion of Lebanon during 2006.
As a number of Jewish dissident organizations and individuals here state, we do not lend any credibility to the Conservative Party electoral insinuations about all who are critics of Israel’s war crimes being anti-Semitic. The actual Jewish community is itself largely already disenchanted with the successive governments of Israel which never accomplish much in terms of peace and more and more of war. There should be peace because peace is possible. Israel is now exposed as having thrown obstacles repeatedly against the peace process by attacking the Palestinians, in their streets, in their homes and in their children’s bellies.
Likewise we acknowledge with admiration the Jewish Holocaust Survivors of Canada who have dissociated themselves from the B’nai Brith Canada ad that falsely equated radical Islam with Nazism, as reported in the Canadian Jewish News ;
http://www.cjnews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18041&Itemid=86 and the
Jewish Telegraphic Agency JTA site ; http://jta.org/news/article/2009/11/12/1009147/bnai-brith-ad-raises-survivors-ire .
We call upon Jewish organizations and schools to lend their credibility to demonstrate the true feelings of the Jewish community in Canada. Yes we do respect the findings of the Goldstone Report. We hold Israel responsible for correcting its errors in respect to the reputation of the Jewish People as a whole. We are obliged to speak out now for the sake of the Palestinians and our own sake to refuse the association being made between the Jewish community and the war crimes of Israel. Is there not still a siege around Gaza harbouring 1.5 million, 80% of whom are refugees?

LOCK-DOWN AT THE MONTRÉAL ISRAEL CONSULATE 2012

2013/12/01

LOCK-DOWN AT THE MONTRÉAL ISRAEL CONSULATE
For Release 27/01/2012

Media Communiqué
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The moment came to present the ‘OPEN LETTER TO THE ISRAEL MINISTER OF JUSTICE YA’AKOV NEEMAN’ at the Israel Consulate of Montréal. This morning on approaching the doors of the Consulate, a voice called out from the intercom – What do you want? . On identifying myself to the young man’s voice I asked to enter and deposit the OPEN LETTER with the Consulate. Waiting for the search of my name which he needed me to spell (dr. abraham Weizfeld), the voice came back to ask if I was the Minister’s Doctor. I explained that I was not in medicine but a doctor in politics. But this did not help any and I was asked to leave. But refusing to leave and asking to present the letter in any case, the voice asked us (ACJC) to mail it in. Being present actually at the office doors I then asked to slide the page under the door. This evoked a great objection forbidding me to do so. Asking why, the voice stated it was for ‘security reasons’. After the third order I did slide it under the door and in it went. No alarms went off or anything and so I left to leave a copy with the ‘Westmount Square’ security office for the Consulate, as well.
This incident demonstrates the fear towards the general public that has overtaken the Israel State administration. No one with any general purpose may get into the Israel Consulate which is open from 9:00 to 12:30, behind locked and guarded doors. It does not even matter to the Consulate that members of the local Jewish communities may wish to come in to ask a question.
The conclusion we are led to is that it is necessary to reignite the Jewish picket line at the Consulate, as was done weekly during 2007-09 – which resulted in the Montréal Consulate moving away and almost being shut down by Lieberman’s government. Only the local Jewish community outrage at being ignored prevented it. If Israel’s government is also considering waging war with Iran, we should consider expressing our opposition at the Consulates and Embassy of Canada.
No War, No Way, No War, No More.
OPEN LETTER TO THE
ISRAEL MINISTER OF JUSTICE YA’AKOV NEEMAN
1 / 01 / 2012
We address this letter to your attention since the responsibility of the Minister of Justice is particular to the Civil Society that it is charged to defend, (by definition). While the State itself defines its authority in terms of military jurisdiction in territory within its authority; the Ministry of Justice nonetheless has authority over the population within that territory. For that reason we address our voice to you Mr. Yaakov Neeman to judge if the arrest and detention of Dr. Youssef Abdul Haq, without charge under the pretext of administrative detention, is acceptable or not? The release of Dr. Youssef is the only conclusion one may make if the Minister assumes the responsibilities for any and all members of Civil Society, and since 45 years it has been a common Civil Society.
Assume the power of responsibility and release Dr. Youssef, to recognize that Palestine and the State of Israel are merged, in spite of an ‘Iron Wall’. There is no doubt that the Minister of Justice is as responsible as the soldiers who took this 67-year-old professor away at 3 am. Any further delay in your intervention compounds the complicity with this war crime. The arrest of Dr. Youssef demonstrates that this is a war against a civilian population, a People; a war by a State that is one of the most heavily armed as well. In such a case the Minister of Justice must intervene to stop such a war – or resign. There is sufficient reason already to file a charge against Minister Neeman with the International Court of the Hague. In observing the recent support provided Palestinians by UNESCO and the 185 countries which voted to affirm Palestinian auto-determination, a procedure for a war crime charge would be taken seriously, as should the Minister.
Any further consequences to Dr. Youssef’s health are also responsibilities of the Minister, since Dr. Youssef is reported to be in the Al Ramla prison hospital.
To release Dr. Youssef would be to declare that security is a matter of common concern. This would avert a perpetual war that seeps into all of the Society. Dr. Youssef’s release would open a road long closed, the one called reciprocity – the only one leading to Peace, if that is what the Minister of Justice wants to achieve.
Having worked with Dr. Youssef in Nablus over the last three months in Nablus, I personally demand respect for Dr. Youssef Abdul Haq’s civil rights and I ask the Minister of Justice Neeman to do the same.
Thanking you for your attention to this urgency,
وسائل الاعلام المعنية Communiqué تحالف اليهود الكنديين
9 يناير 2009
انهاء الحصار على غزة
تحالف اليهود الكنديين المهتمين ترفض ادعاءات حكومة اسرائيل ، التي تدعي أنها مهتمة بتحقيق السلام مع الشعب الفلسطيني. المفاوضات مع السلطة الفلسطينية والرئيس عباس قد حققت شيئا على الإطلاق ، واستعمار 500000 مستوطن و 600 من نقاط التفتيش لا تزال مهمة ، بل وتوسع ، على الرغم من المعاهدات لتشكيل الدولة الفلسطينية.
وقف اطلاق النار من جانب الحكومة التي تقودها حماس خلال العام الماضي — لمدة 6 أشهر — احترام بالرغم من اغلاق نقاط العبور عموما منع دخول المواد الغذائية والادوية من قبل كل من إسرائيل ومصر وعلى الرغم من التبادلات بين جماعة الجهاد الاسلامي واسرائيل العسكرية. في السابق ، فقد كان هناك فعلا من جانب واحد وقف اطلاق النار من حماس ، على مدى 16 شهرا ، كذلك.
الحكومة المنتخبة قانونيا حماس ملتزمة بوقف اطلاق النار يمكن أن تمتد لمدة 10 سنوات مع مواصلة حل القضايا العالقة للاجئين والقدس ، كما أعلن من قبل (حماس) في نيويورك تايمز وواشنطن بوست. اسرائيل ومصر يجب أن تترك الباب مفتوحا لنقاط العبور الى غزة ، والسماح لضروريات الحياة للدخول. الأحزاب السياسية الرئيسية في اسرائيل رفضوا احترام وقف إطلاق النار من خلال الأشهر الستة الماضية ، ودعم إغلاق المعابر الحدودية. اسرائيل خرب احتمالات التوصل إلى وقف لإطلاق النار والسلام مع الفلسطينيين. الحكومة التي تقودها حماس وافقت على انهاء الهجمات الصاروخية عندما يتم فتح نقاط العبور.
مع رفض إسرائيل للتفاوض على وقف اطلاق النار هو عليه الآن مسؤولية التدريجي دوليا لليهود واليهودية الاسرائيلية المعارضة للتعبير عن استيائنا من غير المسؤول والجنائية قيادة العديد من المنظمات اليهودية مثل كندا واسرائيل لجنة الصندوق القومي اليهودي والمؤتمر اليهودي الكندي. ضرورة وجود صوت للمعارضة اسرائيل لاعلان ان اسرائيل لا تعمل باسمنا ملحة. احتجاجات من جانب منظمات يهودية تتضاعف بها دوليا ، مما أثر على الطوائف اليهودية في وعيه. ثماني نساء اليهود الشجعان الذين احتلوا القنصلية الاسرائيلية في تورونتو أخرى تتعرض للغزو الاسرائيلى الوحشى على غزة واخترق على وسائل الإعلام الدولية في اسم اليهودية المعارضة.
اسرائيل تتصرف خلافا لإرادة الشعب اليهودي ومصالح.
ونحن نتكلم الآن للتنديد تعنت دولة إسرائيل. نرفض مزاعم عن أن يتصرف بالنيابة عن المدنيين الاسرائيليين ، وهي أعمال لمصلحة من عسكرة الدولة. من خلال الدعوة لإسرائيل ‘الدولة اليهودية’ وسائل الإعلام تعطي مصداقية لتلك السلطة ، ولا تفرق بين اسرائيل والصهيونية اليهودية دوليا والذين ليست لهم التصويت في اسرائيل.
يتعين على اسرائيل اطلاق سراح السجناء السياسيين الفلسطينيين إذا كان الجندي الإسرائيلي شليط ، الذي عقد في غزة ، وسيتم الافراج عنهم. ويوجد حاليا 11،000 سجين فلسطيني.
فإنه ليس من الشعب اليهودي الذين هم في حالة حرب مع الفلسطينيين ، بل لدولة اسرائيل وحلفائها على الصعيد الدولي. ونحن في التضامن مع الدول العربية والاسلامية والثقافات الذين يعارضون الهجمات من اسرائيل.
وفي حين أنه من المشكوك فيه ان اسرائيل تستهدف المدنيين في المدن ، فإن هذا لا يفسر الدمار استهداف السكان في غزة. حتى الآن ، هناك 800 وفاة ، في وتسعى اسرائيل السيطرة على الغاز الطبيعي بدلا من أمن مواطنيها. المتوسط 54 في اليوم الواحد ، وهي منهجية المذبحة. ثمانون في المائة من سكان غزة هم من اللاجئين ، الذين طردوا من اسرائيل.
ندعو إلى تنظيم دولي لمكافحة التمرد اليهودي الصهيوني لدولة اسرائيل علانية رفض مطالبها للتحدث عن الجاليات اليهودية في كل مكان.
CESSEZ LE SIÈGE DE GAZA 2009
2013/12/01
Media Communiqué
Alliance de Canadiens/nes juifs/ves consternés/es
9 janvier 2009
CESSEZ LE SIÈGE DE GAZA
L’Alliance de Canadiens juifs consternés rejette les prétentions du gouvernement d’Israël, qui veut laisser croire qu’il s’intéresse à la paix avec les Palestiniens. Les négociations avec l’Autorité palestinienne du Président Abbas n’ont rien accompli du tout et la colonisation s’est poursuivi par 500,000 colons; 600 postes de contrôle sont en opération et il est prévu que ces postes vont s’accroître à l’avenir malgré les traités pour la création d’un l’État Palestinien.
Le cessez-le-feu observé par le gouvernement du HAMAS, depuis 6 mois,l’année dernière, a été respecté malgré le fait que les points de passage pour permettre l’entrée d’aliments, de médicaments étaient généralement fermés, par Israël ou par l’Egypte et malgré les affrontements entre le groupe du Jihad Islamique et les militaires d’Israël se poursuivaient. Auparavant, il y avait également eu un cessez-le-feu unilatéral du HAMAS, pour une période de 16 mois.
Le gouvernement légalement élu du HAMAS se consacre à un cessez-le-feu pour une période de dix ans à l’issue d’une résolution concernant le statut de Jérusalem et celui des réfugiés, comme il a été annoncé par le Hamas dans le New-York Times et le Washington Post. Israël et l’Egypte doivent laisser ouvert les points de passage pour entrer dans Gaza et permettre ainsi le ravitaillement pour la population. Les partis politiques majeurs en Israël ont refusé de respecter le cessez-le-feu durant six derniers mois , en effectuant un blocus sur la frontière. Israël a saboté les perspectives d’une paix réalisable avec les Palestiniens. Le gouvernement du HAMAs avait accepté de mettre fin aux tirs de roquettes quand les points de passage étaient ouverts.
A cause du refus d’Israël de négocier un cessez-le-feu, c’est maintenant la responsabilité de Juifs progressistes du monde entier et de l’opposition juive israélienne d’exprimer notre dégoût à la direction irresponsable et criminelle de beaucoup d’organisations juives comme le Comité de Québec-Israël, le Fonds national juif et le Congrès juif canadien. Le besoin d’une voix juive pour exprimer notre opposition à la politique d’Israël est urgent. Les protestations des organisations juives se multiplient dans le monde entier, en sensibilisant la conscience des communautés juives. Les huit braves femmes juives qui ont occupé le consulat d’Israël à Toronto ont dénoncé l’invasion brutale de l’Israël à GAZA et se se sont exprimé au nom de cette opposition juive aux mass-média internationaux.
Israël agit en contradiction à la volonté et les intérêts de la communauté juive .
Nous dénonçons avec véhémence l’intransigeance de l’État d’Israël. Nous refusons ses prétentions d’ agir au nom des civils israéliens car Israel agit pour les intérêts d un État militaire. En appelant Israël,’ l’État juif’ou ‘l’État hebreu’, les mass-média donnent de la crédibilité à ce pouvoir et ne fait pas la différence entre le Sionisme pratiqué par les dirigeants d’Israel et les communautés majoritaires juives du monde entier qui n’ont pas droit de vote en Israël.
Israël doit libérer les prisonniers politiques palestiniens si le soldat israélien Shalit, détenu à Gaza, est libéré. Actuellement il y a 11,000 prisonniers palestiniens dans les prisons israélienne.
Ce n’est pas le Peuple juif qui est à la guerre avec les Palestiniens, mais plutôt l’État d’Israël et ses alliés du monde entier. Nous sommes solidaires avec les cultures arabes et musulmanes qui s’opposent aux attaques d’Israël.
Pendant qu’il est douteux que les villes civiles israéliennes sont visées par le Hamas cela ne justifie pas le ciblage de masse de la population Gazaoui. Pour l’instant, il y a plus de 800 morts, soit moyenne 54 personnes par jour, ce qui constitue un massacre systématique. Quatre-vingts pour cent de la population Gazaoui sont des réfugiés, expulsés d’Israël. L’Israël cherche le contrôle sur le gaz naturel au large plutôt que la sécurité de ses citoyens.
Nous demandons une révolte juive organisée internationale contre l’État Sioniste d’Israël, en rejetant publiquement ses revendications de parler au nom des communautés juives du monde entier.
Mettez fin à l’Occupation de Gaza et de la Cisjordanie
END THE SIEGE OF GAZA 2009
2013/12/01
Media Communiqué
Alliance of Concerned Jewish Canadians
January 9, 2009
END THE SIEGE OF GAZA
The Alliance of Concerned Jewish Canadians rejects the Israel government’s pretensions, which claim to be interested in peace with the Palestinian People. The negotiations with the Palestinian Authority of President Abbas have achieved nothing at all, and the colonization of 500,000 settlers and 600 checkpoints continue to function and even expand despite the treaties for the formation of the Palestine State.
The cease-fire by the HAMAS-led government during the past year was respected for 6 months in spite of the generally closed crossing points, preventing the entry of food and medicines by either Israel or Egypt and despite the confrontations between the group Islamic Jihad and the Israel military. Previously, there has already been a unilateral cease-fire from HAMAS, over a 16-month period, as well.
The legally elected government of HAMAS is committed to a ceasefire that could be extended for 10 years with the further resolution of outstanding issues for the refugees and Jerusalem, as announced by HAMAS in the News York Times and the Washington Post. Israel and Egypt must leave open the crossing points into GAZA, to allow the necessities of life to enter. The major political parties in Israel have refused to respect the cease-fire of the past six months, supporting closing the border crossings. Israel has sabotaged the prospects for a cease-fire and peace with the Palestinians. The HAMAS-led government has agreed to end rocket attacks when the crossing points are opened.
With the refusal of Israel to negotiate a cease-fire it is now the responsibility of progressive Jews internationally and the Israeli Jewish opposition to voice our revulsion at the irresponsible and criminal leadership of many Jewish organizations such as the Canada-Israel Committee, Jewish National Fund and the Canadian Jewish Congress. The need for a Jewish voice of opposition to declare that Israel does not act in our name is urgent. Protests from Jewish organizations are multiplying internationally, affecting the Jewish communities’ consciousness. The eight brave Jewish women who occupied the Israel consulate in Toronto further exposed Israel’s brutal invasion of GAZA and broke through to the international media in the name the Jewish opposition.
Israel acts in contradiction to the Jewish People’s will and interests.
We speak out now to denounce the intransigence of the State of Israel. We refuse its pretensions to be acting on behalf of Israeli civilians; it acts for the interests of the militarized State. By calling Israel the ‘Jewish State’ the media is giving credibility to that power and does not differentiate between Zionist Israel and the Jewish communities internationally who do not have a vote in Israel.
Israel needs to release the Palestinian political prisoners if the Israeli soldier Shalit, held in Gaza, would be released. Currently there are 11,000 Palestinian prisoners.
It is not the Jewish People who are at war with the Palestinians, but rather the State of Israel and its allies internationally. We are in solidarity with the Arab and Islamic cultures who oppose the attacks from Israel.
While it is questionable that Israeli civilian towns are targeted, this does not explain the mass targeting of the Gazan population. So far, there are 800 deaths, averaging 54 per day, a systematic massacre. Eighty per cent of the Gazan population are refugees, expelled from Israel. Israel seeks control over the offshore natural gas rather than the security of its citizens.
We call for an international organized Jewish revolt against the Zionist State of Israel, publically rejecting its claims to speak for Jewish communities everywhere.
End the Occupation of Gaza and the West Bank
Stellungnahme der Jüdischen internationalen Opposition
Gegen einen Angriff auf Iran
Bemühungen, die Kriegstrommeln für einen Angriff auf Irans Kernkraftanlagen zu rühren, bestimmen das derzeitige Geschehen sowohl in den USA als auch in Israel. Nicht zuletzt die in der New York Times am 18.Juli veröffentlichte Auffassung des israelischen Historikers, Benny Morris, ist geeignet, jene politischen Kräfte zu stützen. Mit der vorliegenden Erklärung drückt die jüdische Opposition ihre Empörung aus, um diese entsetzlichen Vorschläge abzuwenden.
Dem Trommeln für einen Angriff auf Iran widersetzt sich nicht nur eine breite gesellschaftspolitische Opposition. Es läuft gegen die stille Diplomatie, die Iran zu ständigen Austauschbeziehungen mit der Atomenergie Agentur der Vereinten Nationen und ebenso zu wirtschaftlichen Handelsgesprächen mit den USA selbst bemühen. Israel hat sich zu einer Feuerpause verpflichtet, die – sehr zur Erleichterung für die Bevölkerungen in Israel und im Gazastreifen – nunmehr seit einem Monat anhält. In Anbetracht der Entwicklung einer politischen Atmosphäre der Vernunft und Verhandlung ist die militaristische Geisteshaltung bestrebt, Krieggründe hochzutreiben, um die Vorbedingungen für einen weiteren Krieg zu schaffen. Morris versucht, solche Vorbedingungen zu fabrizieren und argumentiert: „Sie (die Iraner, ER) werden – sei es aus ideologischen Gründen oder aus Angst vor einem nuklearen Präventivschlag der Israelis – jede von ihnen gebaute Bombe einsetzen. Darum ist ein israelischer Nuklearschlag, der die Iraner an ihren letzten Schritten zu einer Bombe hindert, wahrscheinlich. Die Alternative wäre, es zuzulassen, dass Teheran seine Bombe hat. So oder so, wäre in jedem der beiden
Fälle ein mittelöstlicher Nuklear-Holocaust vorherbestimmt.“ (http://nytimes.com/2008/07/18/opinion/18morris.html)
Die Werbung mit dem Argument der Unvermeidbarkeit, spielt auf die jüdische und israelische Erinnerung an den Nazi-Holocaust an. Damit soll jede Unterstützung für einen israelischen Militärschlag gegen den Iran mobilisiert und so eine Reaktion provoziert werden, die, indem die USA hineingezogen werden, zu einem weiteren Krieg führt. Dies ist umso beklagenswerter, als immerhin 16 Geheimdienstagenturen der USA zu dem Schluss gekommen sind, dass der Iran ein Atomwaffenprogramm nicht hat und auch in den vergangenen fünf Jahren nicht hatte.
Wir feiern den heldenhaften Mut des israelischen Atom-Informanten, Mordechai Vanunu, und unterstützen, indem wir mit unserer Stimme seine Verurteilung des illegalen Kernwaffenarsenals Israels verstärken, den Aufruf für einen atomwaffenfreien Mittleren Osten.
Die Geisteshaltung, die den Rufen nach einem gegenseitigen Vernichtungskrieg als Lösung von Sicherheitsproblemen zugrunde liegt, ist erstaunlich widersprüchlich. Nur die Erfindung einer Nazi-ähnlichen Bedrohung vermag für die Glaubwürdigkeit eines solchen Aufrufs zum Krieg herzuhalten –, was mit jener Begründung für die Besatzung vergleichbar ist, die eine palästinensische Verschwörung ausmacht, die Juden ins Meer zu treiben. Auch die Anspielung auf die iranische Ideologie (Islam) als Ursache der Konfrontation hält keiner Prüfung stand. Zumal die politische Kampfansage an Israel durch den iranischen Präsidenten, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, selbst ungeachtet aller Falschübersetzungen – ein Aufruf zur Vernichtung nicht ist.
Wir streben Sicherheit für alle Betroffenen an, indem wir ein Recht auf Sicherheit für alle bejahen. Obgleich wir der Perspektive eines unvermeidbaren Konflikts keinen Glauben schenken, protestieren wir gegen die Hysterie der Iran-Bashers (Draufschläger), die nunmehr an ihren wiederholten Fehlstarts verzweifeln, einen weiteren unnötigen Krieg zu anzuzetteln. Der Versuch, Iran zu zwingen, den Resolutionen des UN-Sicherheitsrats zu entsprechen, ist rechtlich, diplomatisch und politisch kraftlos, solange die Vereinigten Staaten und Israel jede UN-Diplomatie und ebenso sämtliche Entscheidungen Internationalen Gerichtshofs in Sachen Palästina, durchweg ignorieren.
Wir rufen alle, die gegen einen Militärschlag auf Iran sind, Repräsentanten ihrer Regierungen anzuschreiben und zu fordern, dass der Staat Israel, anstelle der Verkündung von Kriegsdrohungen seine Atomeinrichtungen der internationalen Inspektion zugänglich macht und in gleicher Weise, wie es Iran schon getan hat, den Nichtverbreitungsvertrag von Nuklearwaffen (NPT – Non-Poliferation Treaty) unterzeichnet.
I wish my name to be added to the list of Jews who are outraged by the reckless and callous proposal of war on Iran and call for an end to all covert attacks that are currently being conducted against Iran. To many peace scholars like myself it is obvious that the present feverish militarisation around the world has resulted from US belligerence and willingness to use military force.
I am living in the Peoples’ Democratic Republic of Laos forty years after the devastating bombing of this poor peasant society by the USAF. This should be a lesson to us all that war is a very brutal and indiscriminate instrument whose usefulness has long since past. Ask those war planners to explain their intensions to the Lao child in a remote village who just had their leg blown off by a cluster bomblet and is now too far from medical attention and could die from a tropical infection.
As a former Israeli who has renounced my nationality because I do not wish to be a citizen of such a barbaric and increasingly fascist state, I cannot but endorse your struggle against the taints and threats delivered to you by nations themselves non-democratic, war-mongering and corrupt. Unless we take a different stance and put all of humanity as important and deserving as Israel, we are doomed to a terrible bloodletting.
As a Jewish Canadian (and inhabitant of the same planet as any and all who may read this), I
Wholeheartedly endorse the statement in opposition to the Benny Morris article which appeared in the New York Times urging an attack on Iran.
Neither as a Jew, nor a human being living in this age of myriad pressing concerns which threaten the existence of our species, can I condone the insanity of the current policy of the present United States & Israeli administrations which at least states as its belief that the Iranian nuclear program is a threat to world security. (Though I must credit the authors of those policies to be intelligent enough to know full well the dishonesty of such a stated belief so therefore must further condemn them for such cynical manipulation).
In fact, the by far greater threat to world security is and has been for some time now the actions of those above-named states.
Please add my name to the list of violent dissenters with Benny Morris, who proposes the start of a nuclear war in the Middle East. Based on his NY times article it appears that Prof. Morris, who at one time was considered a valuable scholar in Middle East history, has suffered a dissociative disorder. How else to explain the patent lies (no intelligence service in the world..) that a rational historian would never allow to be printed under his name.
I endorse the statement wholeheartedly.
Benny Morris thinks the unthinkable. His article justifying a nuclear strike against Iran speaks the unspeakable. Such an action could and probably would open humanity’s door to the abyss – a monstrous step toward the end of human viability on Earth.
Shame on the New York Times for admitting such barbarity into the public discussion as normal discourse.
Israel’s unchecked development of nuclear weapons, with the help of apartheid South Africa, was an affront our legacy as Jews – a sharp stick in the eye to the population of the planet. Weapons of mass destruction indeed!
I applaud this initiative; it is the height of perverted insolence for the countries who have the bomb – and especially the one that has used it – to try to dictate who else may have it. Unfortunately for the prospects of planetary survival, the bullying and aggressive behaviour of the U.S. and its clients make countries like Iran observe Iraq and North Korea, and conclude that the only way to prevent being catastrophically destroyed is to become a nuclear power.
Over 30 years ago I refuse to serve as a soldier in the Gaza strip. At that time Israel’s government argued that only forceful military action would keep Israel’s safe. 30 years later; after many thousands of people have died in Israel and Palestine, they are again saying that only forceful military action can keep Israel’s safe. It has never been true. Pease comes from dialog and negotiation, bombs produced more bombs. Bombing nuclear facilities will poison all countries of the Middle East for hundreds of generations.
July 27 letter to the Raleigh News & Observer. It was not published.
America is no place for satire. The New Yorker Obama cartoon went over like a John Kerry joke. Now some are responding seriously to the column by Benny Morris, “Soon, strike on Iran” (N&O, July 20), which presented a case for another pre-emptive war with the cogency with which Jonathan Swift proposed that Irish poverty be relieved by devouring babies.
Morris’s proposal is as insane and as devoid of humanity as Swift’s “modest proposal.” It should convince any sane person of the insanity of attacking Iran.
I doubt, however, the sanity of all discussion of Iran’s nuclear threat. The existing nuclear threat in the Middle East comes from Israel. Israel’s arsenal is controlled by the same Israeli government that dropped a million cluster bombs in southern Lebanon only for the purpose of killing and maiming farm families that wished to return to their land. Israel’s bombs provide the motive for surrounding nations to seek nuclear weapons. The only way to prevent nuclear proliferation in the Middle East is to create a nuclear arms free zone. In return for Israel’s dismantling its nuclear arsenal and agreeing to strict inspections by the IAEA, other countries in the region should make similar commitments.
I have to honor every Jew who is against a attack against Iran.
I believe the Iranians claim that they do not want to have any nukes.
Remember the Fatwa against the nuclear bomb.
If the Iranians are building a nuclear bomb they would betray their religion and their word.
If the outside world let the Iranians in peace with time their religious extremism will soften and they may even become friends.
If their economical and political system is not good then that’s only the Iranians business they will have to live with it.
To force the whole world to accept the American economical system is like the farmer with one crop every year in the beginning it is good but a crisis comes and everything collapses.
Present-day war is caused by nation states, in the interest of the ruling class, fighting over land, markets and power. The temporary solution of Israel is to create a unitary secular state consisting of all of Palestine.
The permanent solution is to abolish the nation state and replace world-wide capitalism with a cooperative world society as stated in the credo of Citizens of the World
I wonder how sane Benny Morris is. Benny Morris does not know Arabic, obviously he does not know Farsi. Why would a world class historian stake his believe on what any Farsi expert could tell him was a mistranslation of a statement by Ahmadinejad? It may be that it is paranoia that sustains the state of Israel. The state of Israel seems to thrive on persecution, imagined in most cases. The claim that Arabs want to throw the Jews into the sea, is the creation of David Ben Gurion, and not that of a significant Arab leader. I favour a one state solution. Any state which has to keep 4 million human beings in an outdoor prison, treated like cattle for 40 years, and deprived of basic human rights on order to maintain itself as a state for a privileged racial or ethnic group has no moral right to exists. Add to this that Israel ethnically cleansed three quarter of a million people in 1948, an ethnic cleansing which has never ceased. Ethnic cleansing is universally recognized as a war crime.
Déclaration Juive d’opposition internationale à attaquer l’Iran
Déclaration Juive d’opposition internationale
à attaquer l’Iran
2008-08-20
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

http: // http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/18/opinion/18morris.html

I wish my name to be added to the list of Jews who are outraged by the reckless and callous proposal of war on Iran and call for an end to all covert attacks that are currently being conducted against Iran. To many peace scholars like myself it is obvious that the present feverish militarisation around the world has resulted from US belligerence and willingness to use military force.
I am living in the Peoples’ Democratic Republic of Laos forty years after the devastating bombing of this poor peasant society by the USAF. This should be a lesson to us all that war is a very brutal and indiscriminate instrument whose usefulness has long since past. Ask those war planners to explain their intensions to the Lao child in a remote village who just had their leg blown off by a cluster bomblet and is now too far from medical attention and could die from a tropical infection.

As a former Israeli who has renounced my nationality because I do not wish to be a citizen of such a barbaric and increasingly fascist state, I cannot but endorse your struggle against the taints and threats delivered to you by nations themselves non-democratic, war-mongering and corrupt. As a Jewish Canadian (and inhabitant of the same planet as any and all who may read this), I
Wholeheartedly endorse the statement in opposition to the Benny Morris article which appeared in the New York Times urging an attack on Iran.
Neither as a Jew, nor a human being living in this age of myriad pressing concerns which threaten the existence of our species, can I condone the insanity of the current policy of the present United States & Israeli administrations which at least states as its belief that the Iranian nuclear program is a threat to world security. (Though I must credit the authors of those policies to be intelligent enough to know full well the dishonesty of such a stated belief so therefore must further condemn them for such cynical manipulation).
In fact, the by far greater threat to world security is and has been for some time now the actions of those above-named states.

Please add my name to the list of violent dissenters with Benny Morris, who proposes the start of a nuclear war in the Middle East. Based on his NY times article it appears that Prof. Morris, who at one time was considered a valuable scholar in Middle East history, has suffered a dissociative disorder. How else to explain the patent lies (no intelligence service in the world..) that a rational historian would never allow to be printed under his name.

I endorse the statement wholeheartedly.
Benny Morris thinks the unthinkable. His article justifying a nuclear strike against Iran speaks the unspeakable. Such an action could and probably would open humanity’s door to the abyss – a monstrous step toward the end of human viability on Earth.
Shame on the New York Times for admitting such barbarity into the public discussion as normal discourse.
Israel’s unchecked development of nuclear weapons, with the help of apartheid South Africa, was an affront our legacy as Jews – a sharp stick in the eye to the population of the planet. Weapons of mass destruction indeed!
Any nuclear threat today is despicable.

I applaud this initiative; it is the height of perverted insolence for the countries who have the bomb – and especially the one that has used it – to try to dictate who else may have it. Unfortunately for the prospects of planetary survival, the bullying and aggressive behaviour of the U.S. and its clients make countries like Iran observe Iraq and North Korea, and conclude that the only way to prevent being catastrophically destroyed is to become a nuclear power.

Over 30 years ago I refuse to serve as a soldier in the Gaza strip. At that time Israel’s government argued that only forceful military action would keep Israel’s safe. 30 years later; after many thousands of people have died in Israel and Palestine, they are again saying that only forceful military action can keep Israel’s safe. It has never been true. Pease comes from dialog and negotiation, bombs produced more bombs. Bombing nuclear facilities will poison all countries of the Middle East for hundreds of generations.

July 27 letter to the Raleigh News & Observer. It was not published.
America is no place for satire. The New Yorker Obama cartoon went over like a John Kerry joke. Now some are responding seriously to the column by Benny Morris, “Soon, strike on Iran” (N&O, July 20), which presented a case for another pre-emptive war with the cogency with which Jonathan Swift proposed that Irish poverty be relieved by devouring babies.
Morris’s proposal is as insane and as devoid of humanity as Swift’s “modest proposal.” It should convince any sane person of the insanity of attacking Iran.
I doubt, however, the sanity of all discussion of Iran’s nuclear threat. The existing nuclear threat in the Middle East comes from Israel. Israel’s arsenal is controlled by the same Israeli government that dropped a million cluster bombs in southern Lebanon only for the purpose of killing and maiming farm families that wished to return to their land. Israel’s bombs provide the motive for surrounding nations to seek nuclear weapons. The only way to prevent nuclear proliferation in the Middle East is to create a nuclear arms free zone. In return for Israel’s dismantling its nuclear arsenal and agreeing to strict inspections by the IAEA, other countries in the region should make similar commitments.

I have to honor every Jew who is against a attack against Iran.
I believe the Iranians claim that they do not want to have any nukes.
Remember the Fatwa against the nuclear bomb.
If the Iranians are building a nuclear bomb they would betray their religion and their word.
If the outside world let the Iranians in peace with time their religious extremism will soften and they may even become friends.
If their economical and political system is not good then that’s only the Iranians business they will have to live with it.
To force the whole world to accept the American economical system is like the farmer with one crop every year in the beginning it is good but a crisis comes and everything collapses.

Present-day war is caused by nation states, in the interest of the ruling class, fighting over land, markets and power. The temporary solution of Israel is to create a unitary secular state consisting of all of Palestine.
The permanent solution is to abolish the nation state and replace world-wide capitalism with a cooperative world society as stated in the credo of Citizens of the World

I wonder how sane Benny Morris is. Benny Morris does not know Arabic, obviously he does not know Farsi. Why would a world class historian stake his believe on what any Farsi expert could tell him was a mistranslation of a statement by Ahmadinejad? It may be that it is paranoia that sustains the state of Israel. The state of Israel seems to thrive on persecution, imagined in most cases. The claim that Arabs want to throw the Jews into the sea, is the creation of David Ben Gurion, and not that of a significant Arab leader. I favour a one state solution. Any state which has to keep 4 million human beings in an outdoor prison, treated like cattle for 40 years, and deprived of basic human rights on order to maintain itself as a state for a privileged racial or ethnic group has no moral right to exists. Add to this that Israel ethnically cleansed three quarter of a million people in 1948, an ethnic cleansing which has never ceased. Ethnic cleansing is universally recognized as a war crime.
